You probably wouldn't want to use your cell phone data to watch most games anyways. I don't think any carrier's "unlimited" plans really are unlimited. Once you reach a certain usage level on an unlimited plan, they'll throttle you to 3G data speed at which point forget watching pretty much any videos.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

I watch games on my phone whenever I'm out of the house during a game.

You're probably just not using enough data to get throttled. I think all 4 major carriers throttle once you use hit somewhere in the 22-28 gb/month range.

So the NHL contracts with MLBAM for all their shit. Hell the websites are, in many areas identical. MLBAM handles their streaming. What's interesting is that the NHL's feature set is miles ahead of MLB's. Now the season is just a few days old, so maybe what I'm seeing is a peak at what MLB.tv will be like in 2019. If so, I approve.

It starts me on a Blackhawks home screen with a variety of additional features like last game, next game, division standings, full standings, game highlights, interviews, etc. For example I can watch the Stan Mikita tribute video that was part of tonight's broadcast. There's a ton of other NHL content if I navigate off the Blackhawks home screen, classic games, best of the NHL network, game recaps, great teams from the past... It's the league's centennial year so there's a whole area just devoted to that.
Presumably MLBAM developed all of this with the NHL. I'd be surprised if MLB.tv for 2019 didn't reflect all this development.

Is that the Roku app? I recently got a new TV with Roku built-in and was a bit bummed that the MLB app is pretty barebones compared to the iOS app, so it would be great to see a new version for next season. I was happy to see it has the audio overlay feature though which is something the iOS app lacks.

Right on. Fingers crossed the improvements carry over.
BTW, do you guys know of any media center-ish Roku apps that let you stream videos across your network? I’m looking for something like Air Video for iOS for streaming torrents from my PC.
