White Sox
I can imagine Santo saying anything. I once heard Santo scream look at that! Look at that! Look at that! Wow, I cant believe that. And then Pat went to commercial. Mind you this was radio.
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

I grew up living just south of Lakeview and going to school in Lakeview. I sure don't remember it ever being a shithole.

What time period are you referring to? I said early 80s.

It's when Straw was a kid, so you have to assume the fire changed everything.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Late '60s (19, not 18) and most of the '70s. We were there when gentrification began. Prior to that, it was all pretty nice, middle class and a lot of blue-collar. It wasn't a shithole. It just wasn't yupscale.

He was already shouting at people to get off his lawn.

Is this what this is all about?  I wasn't honestly comparing him to Trump.  It was a joke.  You said he's an asshat, that's exactly how I feel, I just said it more angrily.

My point is that Bridgeport was always at least on par income and property value-wise as the North side. The highway cuts through the neighborhood and keeps the rougher Bronzeville neighborhood separated from the ballpark. The fact their fans blame the location for poor attendance is silly. They play mostly night games, are located right off of the expressway with almost unlimited parking and 2 EL lines with stops on 35th street. Bridgeport is not a dump. Their fans suck.

One of the reasons Bridgeport isn't and really hasn't ever been a dump is that it Was Daley's neighborhood.

And it's mobbed up. It's a traditional Italian/Irish neighborhood.  There are still a ton of Italian-American social clubs out there.

Which attracts the hell out of baseball fans.

Yet it keeps property values quite high.

I was responding to Straws comments about it being Daleys neighborhood.
