It's not about distance. I have no idea how accurate the map is, but it's about time spent traveling, not miles covered.

It isn't purely about distance, but travel time (as has been pointed out already). Talk to any Sox fan and they all complain that the location of the ballpark is too inconvenient for them. Having 2 EL train lines, 3 expressways and ample parking in that neighborhood apparently aren't enough to get them there with time to spare.

Seems like these are different points. If Sox fans are saying that Wrigley is geographically closer to more people, then theoretically that's disproven by the map (but, again, 8 miles).
If there's some other point about Methadone Clinic Field being generally hard to get to, that's a different issue.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

My point isn't to dispute that Wrigley may be a little further. My point is that whatever minimal difference there may be is effectively irrelevant, and I'm not aware of Sox fans making a point that it's a shorter drive - in time or distance - to get to Wrigley.
There may be arguments about Wrigley being generally easier to get to. I'm not familiar with those claims, but I'm not disputing their existence. I'm just saying that it's effectively a different point than whether you may be able to get to the Sox park a few minutes quicker than Wrigley if you're driving from Michigan.

It doesn't matter what points Sox fans are making or not making. The idea is as simple as two points. One is more people living within less travel time (true or untrue? I have no idea.) the other is poorer attendance. True. The idea is simply that more people make more effort to get to Wrigley. It may not be true but it's the point in question, not what excuses Sox fans make.

The map, accurate or not, shows drive time, not distance. Is it illogical to suggest Sox fans are full of shit for always claiming it is more difficult to get to their ballpark compared to Wrigley (hence poor attendance)? What am I missing here?

I think that's bullshit. I think you guys are being obtuse and are making arguments to beat up straw men (no pun intended).
I'm not familiar with arguments regarding Sox attendance being hurt by it being harder to get to their ballpark, but I will assume for the sake of argument that those arguments have actually been made. I don't know enough about Chicago transit issues to opine on their veracity.
However, even assuming both that those arguments are made and that those arguments are bullshit, that has virtually nothing to do with the question of which ballpark is a slightly shorter drive for more people unless the argument is made that the reason more people go to Wrigley is that it's a shorter drive time to get to Wrigley. Nobody has said that argument is being made. Whether it's generally easier overall to get to Wrigley is a different question than whether it's a slightly shorter drive for a larger population base to get to one ballpark or the other.
