Hornsby only had one good year as a Cub, but is was the greatest year any Cub 2nd baseman ever had. One mind-blowing number: 156 runs scored. I don't know what the NL record is, but I'd bet that number is pretty close.
You want slash stats? .380/.459/.679
Trad stats? 39-HR 149-RBI .380-AVG
Led the league in Games played, OPS, Slugging %, Total bases (409), and a plethora of others. Even flashed a little leather, leading the league in double plays.
Led the Cubs to the World Series, and won the MVP unanimously.
Love him or hate him, that's a season.
Yeah, yeah....what has he done for me lately?
