He will be the primary setup man.
I don't mind having him back, but two years and $4 million a year? Come the fuck on. Name one team out there that would pay him that, especially given the fact that he's going to be a type A free agent? Just offer him arbitration and be done with it.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Grabow made $2.3 M last year. He is a type A free agent and offering him arbitration will take his salary to $3.5 - $4 M or more. There's nothing wrong with the proposed contract, if it's as actually stated here.

If we offer him arbitration, the WORST case scenario is we get him for the contract discussed and just ONE year.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I understand that. However, if his 2010 numbers are close to the numbers he's had in the last couple of years, the amount he would receive after 2010 in arbitration would be more. Therefore, if he suceeds like we all hope, the 2 year deal would actually save the Cubs some $$$. Nitpicking about it being a 1 or 2 year deal for a guy that will constitute about 2% of the total payroll seems rather pointless to me.
