They're too much of a crapshoot (with a few exceptions). Some guy we've never even heard of from our farm system is likely to have as much success as Grabow, but for league minimum.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It's not like anyone on this board was complaining at the beginning of this year when all we had was Cotts in the pen.
Oh wait.....
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
What are you saying? Cotts couldn't be adequately replaced with half a dozen (or more) arms from our farm system?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
No, I'm saying that everyone bitched up a fucking storm when we started the season with just Cotts. Turned out, they were right. Now people are bitching up a storm because Hendry has the gall to possibly be proactive and fill that spot.
I'm all for the theory of letting people fill in, rather than spend money on middle relievers. However, that theory was clearly put to the test last year, and just as clearly, failed. And people bitched. And now that Hendry is (possibly) going to fix it, people are still not only bitching, but suggesting he should be fired. Over a contract that hasn't been signed yet.

I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.
