Barring a COMPLETE COLLAPSE--this will be the first time since 1972 where the Cubs have been above .500 for THREE straight years.
I became a Cub fan the summer of 1972, so for me a lifetime and this is the ONLY time for three years over .500.

Nothing in that post makes me feel any better. We may finish over .500 this year, but it might as well be 20 under .500 because that is what it feels like.

I read somewhere today that we've finished 10 or more games out of first place 29 out of the last 35 seasons. If the current division lead holds, it will be 30 times. That's nothing to be proud of, whether we finish .500 or not.
