Did You Ever Really Recover From Last Season?

<!--quoteo(post=62524:date=Sep 10 2009, 01:19 PM:name=Butcher)-->QUOTE (Butcher @ Sep 10 2009, 01:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->The heartbreak I suffered in '84 has never been matched. My age at the time had something to do with it, of course, but I don't think it will ever get worse than that. '03 came pretty close, though.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

That actually was worse than 2003. First team to ever win the first two games in a 5 game championship series and manage to lose the next 3 (at least that's my recollection). Sutcliffe goes 16-1 in the regular season, wins the first playoff game (including hitting a homer) and then manages to have a bad game in game 5. Plus, we've got the Leon Durham ball through the legs. It was awful.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.
