Are you fucking kidding me? Leading Soriano off again?
I bet we don't see Fuld again for a week. Not that Sam is the savior, but fuck--he puts together four solid at bats last night during a Cubs win, and we bench him the next day in favor of the worst leadoff hitter of all time.
I was at the game last night, and was so excited to see a lineup that appeared to work. I didn't have to worry about that leadoff whiff. Today I am again sickened.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
We won. And Sam Fuld is a AAAA player, not playing him is not grounds for firing.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I would have kept playing him until he stopped being awesome.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Maybe in CF, but Soriano is not going to right himself on the bench.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
On a game to game basis, while Fuld is dominating (I'm saying, if it played out that way, and the moment Fuld stops, you stop starting him), who cares about Soriano. Right?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Right.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Here's the thing though. By all accounts, Alfsonso Soriano is extremely fragile mentally. There's a big possibility that benching him right now will completely take him out of it mentally. And down the road, Soriano is the guy that's going to make a difference on this team, not Sam Fuld.
I'm not saying anyone is wrong for wanting to ride out Fuld's early success, but I think Soriano, more than just about any other player, is an extremely difficult case to handle when he's in a slump like this, and I think that's why Lou hasn't done anything.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
If you want Fuld in there you can get Soriano, Fuk and Bradley rest without straight up benching Soriano and breaking his brain. It's not like Bradley has been lighting the world on fire, and I'm sure Fuk wouldn't mind a day off every once in a while.
