It's not going to be Piniella or any other manager that will turn things around for the Cubs. The players have to start playing baseball. That's the only chance we have.

I think you're right. Did canning Gerald Perry make a difference? Not much, if any. Lou isn't the one up there striking out and hitting like garbage. Yes, he's made some bonehead decisions, but replacing him is not going to make that much of a difference on the performance of the team.

Now Hendry on the other hand has done more harm than good this year.

Hendry has done more harm? You mean by giving Lou the exact team he wanted? That seems like a Lou problem which was enabled by Hendry. Lou's not devoid of blame when it comes to the roster, in fact, most of the blame should be placed on him. Every move Hendry made was because he was trying to give Lou the team he wanted.

I 100% agree with you Rube. This is Lou's team.
But isn't a GM supposed to have a little bit more spine in these matters? Because Jim did the exact same thing with Dusty. He gave him the team he wanted, and it was bad.

I hate to admit it, but I honestly think Jim knows more about who's going to play well than old guys in their 60's, like Lou and Dusty. I wish he'd stop letting his managers dictate his clubhouses.
