I would love to see one more year of Vitters. There is no way we are going to pick up Lee after his contract expires, the money we could save with vitters would go a long way towards balancing out all of these backloaded contracts we have. Everyone else I have seen mentioned has a lot of value to a major league team trying to fill out a roster for $40 million. For us they are all easily replaceable pieces. At the end of the day I am nervous as shit about taking on Peavy with the shoulder and elbow problems. Power sinker/slider pitchers break down , it is just a matter of how serious the injuries are and how long the recovery. If we have to pick up the option on Peavy I have zero interest, and I am leery with the current four year guarantee. I would be interested to see what else this package of prospects can get us. I would also be interested in seeing how low the market for Sheets has gone and keeping all of the prospects for when we know exactly what we do need.
