It's nothing like Zito. The Zito contract was 7 years/$126M. The Giants will have paid (including his $7M 2014 buyout) only $10M less to Zito for 7 years than the Cubs and Yankees will have collectively paid to Soriano for 8 years. A 2/$35M contract is not remotely comparable to a 7/$126M contract no matter how much they are overpaying him for those 2 years.
