Like I said before, the setup in Arizona is way better. All of the stadiums are within a few miles of each other. Look at the map. The stadiums in Florida are spread out all over the state. It simply isn't comparable.

You can certainly make an argument for Naples. But my many years of going to spring training would be over. I'm sure they'll find plenty of people to fill my vacated spot without too much trouble, though.
Personally, I would be sad about it and I hope Mesa ponies up the dough to build a new facility.
The White Sox have been in Arizona for a while -- they've just been down in Tucson. Of course, the Cardinals are in Florida...so pick your poison.

I do have personal reasons that make me want the Cubs to stay in Mesa that nobody else gives a shit about.
However, if you're going to spring training purely for baseball reasons then the Cactus League kicks the Grapefruit League's ass without question.

Other than the fact that you have to travel 2-3 hours to get from one stadium to the other, then it probably wouldn't be much different. The stadiums in the Phoenix area are all within half an hour of each other.
It's fine that you don't care. You're absolutely entitled to your opinion. But having the Cubs in Florida would be different. Some people may think better -- I'm not one of them.

I'd rather them be in AZ. My Aunts and cousins live in Phoenix and Bz and I plan on going out there for ST to visit them then drive the 20 minutes to Mesa. If it's fun, I'd like to do it every year. I imagine it'll be a blast.

There were several threads discussing the Cubs spring training situation. I just picked this one instead of starting a new thread.
An update on the financing in Mesa:
Finance plan in Mesa
<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Officials in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa have a new financing plan for building a new spring training complex for the Chicago Cubs.
The plan announced Thursday is aimed at keeping the team from moving its spring operations to Florida, which would be a major tourism loss for Mesa.
Officials say cornerstones of the $84 million plan include a proposed increase in the city's bed tax on hotel rooms and using city money from special funds.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I have no idea what is going to happen, since times are so tough and politically, it is very unpopular right now to push through tax and fee increases for any reason other than in the event of a budgetary doomsday scenario, but I hope the team remains in AZ. I hate it when traditions are destroyed especially in sports, and it would be absolutely devastating to the local economy if the Cubs were to jump ship after more than 50 years in the state. Mesa needs the source of revenue way more than Naples does, so I am rooting for the status quo.

I don't disagree, and when it comes to Wrigley itself, I actually wouldn't mind rebuilding the place brick by brick, but I don't think the location of our ST facilities has anything to do with the 102 years of nothingness.

Regardless of where it ends up, the new facility is going to be top notch.
