The Cards have a pretty good rookie in Freese.

If Heyward finishes with 25+ HRs and an average .270+, that would put him amongst only like 20 players to do so at his age, with over half that being HOFers. He's a lock.
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

If the Cubs go on a terror, win the division with Castro playing a central role then he's has a great shot but it would take that type of effort.

He could use a good campaign manager. How are you at smoking sports journalist pole?

If it goes to a pitcher, it will be Mike Leake.

Yes, we must wait until after the season to discuss these things.

The subtitle of this thread is "What would it take?" Seems like an OK conversation to have.

It's a great year for rookies, especially in the NL. That's too bad for Castro, who's our most exciting rookie in years, and in most seasons, would be the front-runner.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
