Fan tasered at Phillies game

Looks like it might have happened after he already started voluntarily diving down. Also looks like a bunch of extremely slow and/or lazy security guards.

There are already investigations going on and it is all over the news and media everywhere. I think the officer who tasered him probably ended his career. Using a potentially deadly weapon on someone who is not a threat or acting violently and is just being a dumb goofball isn't the smartest of ideas. The fan is also a minor which isn't gonna help the officer.

Asshole got what he deserved. Would have been nice if they had tasered him a couple of more times after he came around.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.

The guy went down because he got tasered.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

I wish they would have tasered the Ligues. In the cock.

I honestly don't see the problem with using the taser in that situation. You can't have people running onto the field. Hopefully this serves as a deterrent to any other idiots who might have thoughts of doing something like this.

ESPN reported this on Sportscenter this morning.

The kid called his dad to say he was about to run on the field. Although the kid didn't appear to be a threat, the kid was running away from security.

Would have rather seen the kid get cold cocked by tackling security guard but a tasering is fine. Security didn't appear to harm/treat him roughly when they removed him from the field.

The big question is the right appropriate response to an idiot who runs on to the field and disrupts play?

Would anyone had issues if security ... tackled the kid? .. pepper sprayed him? .. billy clubbed him?

You guys are ruthless. I definitely have a problem with tasing a kid that is just waving a a towel in the air at a slow jog. No reasonable person would consider him dangerous in that situation. He shouldn't have been on the field but it didn't warrant a tasing. Tackle him and be done with it.

They should have given tasers to everyone on the field, including the kid who ran out there. Tasers, of course, due to their range, encourage the shooter to not run so fast. It would have made for one fine game of Taser Lag.

Tackling would be fine.

Pepper spray? No. Billy club? No.

I don't think the taser was meant to hurt him -- just to stop him. It looks like the kid could've run circles around those guys for another 5-10 minutes if he wanted to.

But don't you think people will think twice (if they weren't already) about running onto the field now?

You just, by extension, argued for the death penalty being a deterrent.
