Sorry, had to get a last minute project done.
Look at the bottom:

Between Yahoo and Baseball Reference, somebody's numbers are wrong. Yahoo shows he's given up 144 runs during pitches 1-15 while baseball referrence shows that he's given up 121 total runs during pitches 1-25.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Then there is a distinct possibility that Yahoo is wrong, as I trust BR more. It's too bad they aren't using the same pitch count segments to break things down.

SI uses STATS and is closer to (but not exactly the same as) Yahoo.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That's good enough for me. The ER, IP, BAA, WHIP are all the same. Not sure why the ERA is off by .03 but that isn't significant.

Is it possible that one includes the guys who were put on base with pitches 1-15 (but driven in later) while the other only includes runs scored during the first 15 pitches?

I skipped the last few pages of this and skimmed most of it, so I apologize if it's already been brought up, but:
Is Z going to be able to pitch on back to back days? Or every other day? Because when Silva/Gorz revert to the mean, there's not going to be any Zambrano to replace them if he's hurt himself with his aggressive pitching style while his arm is not use to to the new workload/routine.
And I can guarantee that Z is gonna try to throw the ball through the catcher if he knows he's only throwing one inning.

Yep. I think we're gonna see a lot of 94-97 mph fastballs, whereas we've been seeing 89-92 in the rotation.

All this is quite meaningless when we can't even carry a lead into the 8th, or get a lead to begin with.

It still makes zero sense to me. How can his ERA be that bad if his WHIP and BAA is incredibly good? And how exactly are his first two innings statistically his best but his first 15 pitches are atrocious. There's something weird with these stats, but I'm not seeing what it is.

I just wanna say that I got to thinking as I watched Z stroll to the pen after the 4th and what I was thinking pissed me off.
Z should have been seated in the pen for the entire game, every day since the decision was made. One of his values to the pen is that he's seen theses hitters much more than anyone else in the pen and a bajillion times more than any of the children in the pen. He should be out there talking to those guys, not hanging out in the dugout as long as possible.
Lou is a fucking loon.

So, I'm reading a bunch of local newspaper shit this morning, and Sully and Wittenmeyer are trying to stir the pot, of course. They are both reporting that Z is disgruntled and that he is singing a very different tune than Lou and Hendry about his move to the pen being only temporary. I tend to believe Z on this one over the front office.
Nice job guys. This will only end badly. And just as we are starting to play decent ball. The Cubs are awesome as usual.

Paul Sullivan, as has been said countless times, is a total dipshit. I read todays Trib and all I could think of is, "wow Paul way to try and create a shit storm where there probably isn't one".

I'm positive that any time he sees a wafer thin gap between two statements, he smells "a story." I'm positive he thinks this ability is why the Trib pays him the big bucks.

On different note, I wonder if last night's pitching line is the first to feature three Carlos's from the same team. Just wonderin'.

Whatever Z does in the pen will likely be better than what anybody else could've done. The problem is what's he going to look like as a starter again if/when that ever happens. I could see it being a disaster.
Hey yall--
I wrote a bunch of spam about some wikipedia page that some chick named Karen did for me, and then I was all self-promotional, and then I thanked Karen, and I didn't have much regard for grammar or spelling. I smell like poo.

You seriously, seriously have to wonder: does doing this kind of thing *ever* work?
