i saw MM open for REM at the Greek Theater and I'm way more of an MM fan than REM (in fact I can't stand stipe) but I thought REM blew MM away.
Then again, an outdoor ampitheater is probably not the best place to see a band like MM. One thing that bugged me though is he doesn't even try to sing. I realize that's kinda his style but it wasn't working live for me.

I've seen Modest Mouse 3 times, I think, and they were pretty incredible each time.

I'll respectfully disagree. I was majorly disappointed.

Fuck off you are wrong!
I have read, though, that Isaac has shows when he's absolutely plastered and it ruins the show, but I guess that wasn't the case at any I've been to.
They're actually coming to Summerfest in Milwaukee this year, which is pretty damn cool for a festival that is usually full of a bunch of crappy music.

Well he isn't really a good "singer" on record either.

What do you think of the Greek in general?
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

I've been there. It's probably my 3rd favorite outdoor venue that I've been to next to Red Rocks and Mud Island

Don Henley is like a fine win. He just gets better with age. The Eagles fucking rocked the Bowl tonight for 3 & half hours.

Probably the two that stick out the most for me are Superchunk/Trail of Dead/Eric Bachman in 01 or 02 and Fugazi sometimes in the late nineties. The Fugazi show cost $5 and they played for about 4 hours.

I went to a 3 day rock festival in Oskohsh, WI in 1996 when I was 15 (I won two tickets listening to the local radio station). There was a group of about 10 of us crammed into a tiny, little cheap-ass motel room. Definitely one of the best weekends of my life. Tons of booze, weed, mud, girls, skateboarding, and music. I could barely move for about a week after from all the moshing and skating, and I thought my ears were permanately damaged too, but they finally stopped ringing after a few days.
At the time, it was a bunch of the "new" rock bands, such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Candlebox, Everclear, Seven Mary Three, Better Than Ezra, Citizen King, etc., and a healthy dose of local and indie bands as well.

here are mine, i'll leave out pumpkins shows
radiohead at grant park is probably my favorite, even though i accidentally ate way more acid than i was supposed to because it was in some sort of form i'd never seen before. i thought i was supposed to eat what was handed to me, but i was supposed to break some off. i ate the rest of this guy's acid and this was about 3 years after i had sworn it off forever. i wasn't as bad as it could have been.
the radiohead show at alpine a while later was almost as good.
when the dead first officially re-formed and it turned into a sort of festival at alpine. badass weekend.
surprisingly the best show out of many great ones i saw at bonnaroo the year i went was also the dead. they played shine on you crazy diamond and all this other wild shit.
ryan adams and lucinda williams at the riv (i think) was great, mostly because of ryan adams. i've heard he's hit or miss and a lot of people just hate him altogether but this show was incredible.
sleater kinney and the black keys at metro was a lot of fun.
the only time i saw rage against the machine was at lollapalooza. i've always liked them but not hard core or anything, they blew me away live.
flaming lips and the white stripes for new years eve somewhere here in chicago, the aragon i think. what a package deal.
like a bunch of you, i've seen a million shows. not as much lately, but these are the ones that stick out.

I was there. I finagled my paper in letting me go to cover it. I wouldn't have missed that for anything on earth and it was really great.
The last nine photos on this page are from those shows.
