Adam Dunn
#31
I'm warming up to the idea, but I still don't see this ever happening unless both Bradley and Abreu get scooped up by other teams first.

And I'm not buying this business about Dunn not looking for much in a contract. This may be his last chance to really cash in during his prime, so why lowball himself?

Maybe he feels being booed at Wrigley is more valuable than millions of dollars?

Yeah totally. I don't buy that for a second. If he doesn't care/enjoy playing baseball like people say, I'd say he's been playing for a big contract. I'd be absolutely shocked if he got less money than Milton Bradley.

I just don't get the feeling that the Cubs are all that high on him...but we shall see.

Yep, at least for now Hendry hasn't shown any interest in him. I guess he's the back up plan if Bradley and Abreu sign else were.

Well what's taking so long to get Bradley or Abreu signed? I'm guessing this close to Christmas, talks will subside for a week or so. This could drag well into January if Hendry doesn't get the ball rolling. The anticipation of something, anything is killing me.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

If Abreu really wants 15 million+, there's one answer.

And, oh boy...
One thing that'd be interesting to speculate on is WHY Dunn wants to play here so bad.
He's not from here, he's from Texas.
Does he think he'd fit in? Does he like Chicago? Is it because he puts up phenomenal numbers at Wrigley? Does he want to be part of things if/when the Cubs finally do bring it all home?

I seriously wonder why Dunn has such Cub-lust.

I would say that Dunn knows his career numbers at Wrigley and wants to pad those. I'd want to play for the Cubs too with those numbers.

i think the opportunity to stick it to the reds 16 times a year would weigh into it as well.

I think the notion that Dunn has a hard-on to play for the Cubs is completely fabricated.

Why is it unbelievable? Assuming he cares about playing at all.

I think he's as good an option as Abreu or Bradley. There, I said it.

I just don't believe it. I don't believe he said to some random reporter that he'd love to be a Cub.

Also, I think he'd be a better option than Abreu and probably on par with Bradley. It doesn't mean that I don't think he's vastly overrated and that I don't really like him though.

But who would benefit from this vast conspiracy? Nobody.
Certainly not Dunn...it hurts the bargaining power of a player if everyone knows he has a hard-on for one specific team.
Not the reporter...if it's fake, he's revealed as a fraud.
Who would benefit from floating this rumor?
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
