QUOTE Dave Kaplan reported on Thursday night that Adam Dunn is telling people if the Cubs will have him, that's where he wants to play. Kaplan reminded his listeners about how awful the Cubs defense would be in the outfield with Alfonso Soriano in left and Dunn in right. Kaplan finished his brief, yet revealing, discussion about Dunn with the following: "He wants to play here in the worst way."

I like Dunn better than a lot of people here seem to, but I would not be a fan of this at all. I don't know if I could stand watching the Dunn/Soriano combo on a daily basis.

Adam Dunn - rok - 12-20-2008

Kaplan has reminded listeners of Dunn's wish to play here several times.

And, oh boy...

I believe this belongs in the Ibanez thread.

Adam Dunn - Clapp - 12-20-2008

Yeah I posted that he said this a couple weeks ago... Kap said, "Dunn's begging the Cubs to sign him". And we still haven't heard a single thing about the Cubs actually being interested in him.

Everyone would have been going nuts about this topic 3 years ago. Not so much now....

Adam Dunn - Baron - 12-20-2008

I think I have changed my stance on this, and would be okay with him being a Cub. I would rather the Cubs sign Bradley, but who can resist someone who compares so favorably to baseball greats?

Anyways, there could be worse RFers for the Cubs.

Adam Dunn - Fella - 12-20-2008

Yeah he would be the best one we have had since Sammy, no doubt in my mind about that, his defense would suck complete ass, but he would be better than Jock, Floyd or Fuk.

I think Bradley and Abreu are better fits for this team though and better RFers.

Adam Dunn - vegascub - 12-20-2008

I remember a guy named Thome practically begging the Cubs to sign him. And he was much better. Forget Dunn.

Adam Dunn - Destined - 12-20-2008

No wonder he is begging to wear pinstripes...

Career Numbers at Wrigley:
60 games
23 Homers in 217 at bats
.419 OBP

And besides numbers, can you remember a game against us where he didn't reach Sheffield?

Adam Dunn - AlexV - 12-20-2008

QUOTE According to David Kaplan of WGN Radio and Comcast SportsNet, Adam Dunn's first choice is to play for the Cubs. He's not looking for a huge deal, but a fair one. The concern, of course, would be having Dunn play right field on a regular basis.

A source familiar with the team's thinking told MLBTR the Cubs have "exchanged pleasantries" with Dunn's agents, nothing more. It's been suggested that Milton Bradley is the Cubs' first choice.

At least we know he'd come cheaper than the other guys.

Adam Dunn - Andy - 12-20-2008

The difference having a great defensive outfield and horrible one is easily outweighed by Dunn's offensive abilities. For the 1-2 games he may cost us, he'd make up for that with his bat.

Adam Dunn - bz - 12-20-2008

I think it would flat out awesome if we got him provided we can't get Bradley or Abreu. He'd come cheaper and would instantly upgrade the lineup. I still think he is vastly overrated by the Sabrenuts of the world, but to think he wouldn't improve the team is silly.

Adam Dunn - savant - 12-20-2008

I would think that Dunn is still going to cost more than Bradley.
