We've been burned by these this-platoon-should-be-just-fine type deals before, but there isn't the money to add a true starter right now unless he comes for dirt ass cheap.

Which I suppose is possible: anyone else hear that the Yankees standing offer to Johnny Damon is just $2 million(!) guaranteed?
