Seven years $120 million. Team option for year eight.

Wow. That's an awful contract.
The downside is that this pretty much makes them the clear favorites for the NL Central this year (if they weren't already).

Reports of full no trade clause as well. That is a bad deal no matter how you slice it.

Wow.... that's crazy. Especially considering Bay just got 4/60 or something and they are similar ages with a similar career OPS, not to mention that Holliday did the majority of his damage at Coors field.
In this economy, I didn't think we would see contracts like that this off-season. Glad it was the Cardinals. Although like Butch said, for the near future it makes things tougher.

This contract makes me think the Cardinals believe that Pussjewels is going to test the free agent market.

I've heard of no competition for his services either. That's a huge Boras win.
I got nothin'.

He turns 30 in 10 days. He'll be 37 when it ends and he's making $17 mil per. Makes ya wonder.
I got nothin'.

The only rumor I have even seen is that the Orioles were laying in the weeds hoping to be able to steal him away with a late contract offer.

There's no way they can lock up Pujols to a long-term deal after this...right?

I don't know how but I think they will. St. Louis fans would burn that stadium and city down if they let Pujols leave. He is a god there.

That would be cool.
