You guys realize what a complete and total freak out would have occurred on this board if Hendry had given the EXACT same contract to Cameron, right? People would be screaming from the rafters about how no one in their right mind would give a 37 year old a 2 year contract, and how almost 8 million a year is 3 million more than anyone else would have given him. Then I would have asked how you guys have any idea what other teams offered him, and 4 of you would have accused me of blowing Hendry.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Except Hendry would have given him a backloaded 3/30 with a full no-trade clause.

Have a difficult time believing that Holliday is looking at a 7-8 yr $105 to $130 MM offer from the Cards. If it happens great, Fat Albert will either be given a $200 MM contract or be out of St Louis at the end of his deal and the Cards will suck.

If you're Scott Boras, a guy who plays fast and loose with rumors, why not put out this BS and see if someone - namely the Yankees - come in and offer 4 years at $15 - $20 MM for Holliday which would be much closer to his value.

Shit, now would expect Holliday to resign with the Cards.

Hopefully, the Yankees will go after him before Matt decides to resign.

Yes, the next best thing to Holliday leaving the Cards is getting an Alf contract.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Cubs Step Up Pursuit Of Marlon Byrd
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [December 15, 2009 at 1:06pm CST]

The Cubs are pursuing Marlon Byrd more intensely, now that Mike Cameron is off the market, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. The Cubs, who wanted Cameron, are still trying to gain payroll flexibility by trading Milton Bradley and at least some of the $21MM he'll make before the end of the 2011 season.

The Rangers stand to gain a supplementary round selection if Byrd signs with another team (though Byrd won't cost the Cubs or anyone else a pick).<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I really don't get the point of Marlon Byrd. He's another guy who has meh stats, and who's meh stats are enhanced by playing in a hitters park. Why even bother with him. This has mistake written all over it. Byrd is a fourth outfielder. Hendry is going to correct his mistake by trading down for a worse player and paying about the same? Fuck Hendry.

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I'm not sure what this guy has in common with Jones. He walks a decent amount, plays center field, bats right handed, doesn't hit for too much power, and seems to have a pretty good arm (12 outfield assists last year). He's almost the anti-Jacque.

What they have in common is that they both kind of suck.

Are you for real?

Career stats:

.279/.340/.422 -- OPS+ 99

.277/.326/.448 -- OPS+ 98

Fuck...I'd be hard-pressed to find two career stat lines as similar as those two.

I'm not sure why you're so upset about this. He's a center fielder, he doesn't need to put up monster numbers.

If he signs here for 7+million per year and/or for more than 2 years, then I will be pissed. Right now, it's just talk though.

Did you have someone else in mind for the outfield?
