Cubs spring training to Florida?
#1
I don't even want to imagine how awful it would be if the Cubs moved to Naples...

Is this being seriously discussed now? I thought it was just a negotiating tactic to get Mesa to pony up public funds for upgrades or a new ballpark.

The Muskrat has an article about it. It could be a negotiating tactic, but it sounds like it could also be serious.

For you, perhaps.

Look at the map below. They're all bunched together in Arizona (other than the two in Tucson). They're all over the fucking state in Florida.

I don't see the big deal where they train.

Have you ever been to spring training? It's a blast. And it draws a ton of fans. I read somewhere that Cubs fans alone spend $31M in the city of Mesa during spring training.

It's kind of a big deal.

Tradition counts for a lot. The Hohokams have busted their balls for the Cubs over the decades and that deserves more respect.

It wouldn't still be a blast and draw a ton of fans in Florida?

Like I said before, the setup in Arizona is way better. All of the stadiums are within a few miles of each other. Look at the map. The stadiums in Florida are spread out all over the state. It simply isn't comparable.
