I would have no use for Mike Maddux as a pitcher, but I'd love to see him as a coach.

He’s go the best hitting eye on the team and is an OBP machine. He’s great at driving the ball to the gap and plays solid defense for the most part. He’s one of the league’s best switch hitters. He can hit for power.

His skill set is very useful, and I think that this whole year (this week in particular) has taught him a lot about how to handle things. If he can learn to not to give the media so much to work with and be less uptight around the fans (like when he bowed after catching that fly ball), I think that things will cool down and he can be a popular and productive member of this team.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

You know where we need an OBP machine? Second base, not taking up a corner outfield spot. He is a terrible switch hitter. And what makes you think he can hit for power? His career high is 22 and that was at the launching pad in Arlington. He'll never learn how to handle things. He's an insanely sensative guy, has been his whole career. Nothing is going to change. It was a bad signing. Just be glad we only have two more years left.

Personally, I'll take an OBP machine like him anywhere.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->He is a terrible switch hitter.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Career OPS as a right handed batter: .885
Careeer OPS as left handed batter: .804

That may fall in line as a terrible switch hitter in your book, but not mine.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->And what makes you think he can hit for power?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

He has slugged over .480 in 5 of his 10 years in the league.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->His career high is 22<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

While HRs are great, they aren't everything. The Cubs should make up good HR production out of catcher (crosses fingers) and third base anyway.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->and that was at the launching pad in Arlington.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I realize the wind blows in a decent amount in Wrigley, but Wrigley field isn't exactly a cavernous venue.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->He'll never learn how to handle things.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

He's showed significant improvement this year by "handling things". He went from a .760 OPS in the first half of the season to a .921 OPS in the second half.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->He's an insanely sensative guy, has been his whole career. Nothing is going to change.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

While this is true, it's never had an effect on his in game ability.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->It was a bad signing.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

He hasn't even finish his first year of the contract. Again, maybe that's enough time for you, but I would like to at least see him play halfay through it.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Just be glad we only have two more years left.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I'm glad we still have two more years. I'm just hoping the Cubs don't trade him for nothing.

In a matter of a few days, I've completely changed my tune on Bradley. He is a great #2 hitter and I hope we keep him for the full 3 years of his contract. Sure, he's overpaid and wears his emotions on his sleeve, but he's still a valuable piece to have. Add a 2B or a SS and take a good hard look what you may/may not get out of Soto at C, and I think you can patch this team up and compete again next season.

Some of your comments were just opinions that I disagreed with. That's fine, we're allowed to disagree. If I don't get "it" than why not try showing me what "it" is and why you think it's the way to go.

Some of your comments were just wrong. I pointed that out to you and showed you why you were wrong. I'm not sure what is not being grasped here.

So, you resort to the old "I don't care enough and you do, therefor I win" defense? Why not at least try to defend your points? All it really says to anybody is "I don't know what I'm talking about, so I quit".

Honestly, I didn't mean any offense by responding to your points. I have no problems acting like a dick back to someone who wants to be smug and condescending though.

Fat Bastard is an immensely obese, hardly able to walk (weighing a metric ton) gardener and henchman hailing from Scotland. His extreme size endows Fat Bastard with super-human strength as exhibited by his prowess in the Sumo ring from Goldmember. This makes him a formidable enemy for Austin Powers. Fat Bastard is noted for his foul temper, his frequent flatulence, his vulgar and revolting bad manners and his unusual eating habits, which include taste for Human infants (which he calls "the other other white meat") or anything that looks like a baby, e.g. small people. Fat Bastard has been a regular at Cub games since the early 80's when he tried several times (unsuccessfully) to eat the visiting San Diego Chicken.

It had nothing to do with being smart. The fact was he either took things out of context or just didn't get what I was trying to convey; that's not necessarily his fault.

I'll touch on some of the points now.

Arlington, is known as a hitter's ball park. I was saying that he only hit 22 HRs there, his career high, that is not very impressive and doesn't speak well for one's power hitting ability. Additionally, he has only 11 HRs to this point in what is also a hitter-friendly ball park.

I think his switch hitting numbers have been covered enough in this thread to say that he currently is a sucky switch hitter.

I'm of the belief that you NEED to get production from your RFer. By production, I mean a guy who drives in runs. Milton is not that guy. I don't need a light-hitting OBP guy in RF when I have guys like that at SS, 2B, CF already.
