I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

shouldn't our leadoff hitter be able to get a hit every once in a while?

Ok, the biggest douche in all of baseball loves "go cubs g." I may need to reconsider.

I have never seen a team give up so many runs the half inning after they score.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

They should eject the fan who tried to interfere with the ball.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Nice win, still alive. Go Giants.

That was an insanely fast game. About 2:45 for a nationally-televised game with 15 runs?

This was the first game in 2 weeks where I actually sat down, watched from the 1st pitch on and enjoyed myself. It's kind of nice to watch a game and not get too stressed out about the outcome. Oh well, I know these are meaningless games, but I still like baseball enough to care a little.

I'm kind of looking forward to watching Bradley the rest of the year and hoping that Fox is given plenty of ABs rest of the way too.

I haven't tossed in the towel. (Soon to be) 5 1/2 games back in the WC isn't meaningless.

Only 4 back in the loss column now. And again, that's really what I look at now. I know as we saw when the Cubs just played the Nationals that at times it doesn't matter who we're playing, but obviously we'd rather play a team like them than the Phillies. We finish with 6 against the Dbacks and the Pirates at Wrigley, so you tell yourself that you'll win those games(or at least have a good chance to) if you have to. Big longshot, but definitely possible and reason to be interested in the games. Much crazier things have happened. I've kissed girls under 200 pounds.

Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

The Cubs aren't finished toying with our emotions this season just yet!

I'm actually glad. I don't want a meaningless September. I want to win...we probably won't but winning doesn't have to be about maintaining a lead. Sure, it's easier to be a Cards fan right now. Easy is nice. This is what being a Cubs fan is...sticking with a team that never does it easy.

Ok, somewhere between today and October, futility may arrive. I know this.

It's baseball...it's not my soul. I don't have to stop caring when the odds are long to protect myself. I can handle disappointment. I've been handling it for 40 years. If I couldn't..I couldn't make myself care in April. Why sould it be so hard to care in August?

I've already given up, so if we do happen to sneak into the postseason, then that will be a bonus. If not, no big loss.
