<!--quoteo(post=55371:date=Aug 3 2009, 09:33 PM:name=Baron)-->QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 3 2009, 09:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->On Cashner's stuff:
"He actually has a third pitch. He throws a pretty decent changeup. His two best pitches are definitely his fastball and slider.

His fastball is a big time pitch. It has pretty good velocity and great movement. He can be a bit wild with it especially the harder he throws it. The slider is also at least an above average pitch. If he tightens it up a bit he probably it could potentially rate as a plus pitch. <b>His biggest issues facing him are control and stamina."</b><!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Stamina doesn't come into it if he's a reliever. But control becomes twice as important.
I'm really surprised that they're grooming him to be a starter, considering he didn't even start in <i>college</i> ball.
But it sounds as if he's getting after it pretty good.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

I've read before that on occasion Cashner can hit 99, but stays in the mid 90s.

Of course, there was talk about Spellcheck hitting 99 also.

Maybe the call up from Iowa will allow Atkins to regain some confidence.

And 2 BB from Ryan in an inning doesnt look good.
