Minor League Roundup
Tyler Colvin tied a Southern League record with hits in 11 straight at bats.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Good. It's been a rough career for him so that's something he could certainly use. Who knows, something like that can be the confidence boost a talented player needs.

I tend to think that if Gaub was on the 40 man roster, he might have been called up already,

Also, good to see LeMahieu off to a hot start

I know nothing about Gaub and I'm being very irrational by saying this..... but dare I say Gaub for closer?

He also got a bunt single. The Smokies' broadcaster said he has a 5-game hitting streak and can handle the bat really well. Hendry then talked him up for a bit.

I can't believe how much success Cashner is having as a starter. No one really thought he could do that.

And yeah, Gaub - along with Parker - has been awesome. We really do have a shit load of quality, high level reliever prospects.

From everything I had heard Cashner was basically a fastball-slider guy built for the pen, so yeah it's surprising to me too. He must have another pitch or two that I'm not aware of. I wonder what his fastball velocity is like as a starter, I'd guess the 93-96 mph range.

At his age, he should be in MLB if he's dominating. We need a reliever. Why not him?
Number one question: Does he throw strikes?
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

He's had some control issues, so I'm not ready to crown him yet.

A "guru"-type guy on another board I read says that out of the pen his FB 98+, but as a starter he sits 93-94.

On Cashner's stuff:
"He actually has a third pitch. He throws a pretty decent changeup. His two best pitches are definitely his fastball and slider.

His fastball is a big time pitch. It has pretty good velocity and great movement. He can be a bit wild with it especially the harder he throws it. The slider is also at least an above average pitch. If he tightens it up a bit he probably it could potentially rate as a plus pitch. His biggest issues facing him are control and stamina."
