I would agree with you last season. But, Soriano is 33, can't hit a curve ball, can't field his position, and his only attribute is power. He's turned into a skinny Dave Kingman and he's going to get slower and worse. He's not good, in fact he's pretty terrible. I'm sure he will have a hot streak sometime in the next couple fo months, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a one dimensional player that is a huge liability for 75% of the season. There just not much there anymore. I still predict he will be released outright with at least two seasons left on his contract.

I wish they'd put Soriano on the DL, let his knee get a little better, and let him work on his swing at Mesa.

Since we have Fox to step in, I wonder why the heck they don't just do this?

He's hurt. He's never been able to field his position. He's never been able to hit a curveball. He's not terrible. He's had a bad year, thus far. He's hurt.

Has his fielding taken a dramatic turn for the worse this season? Because the past couple years, he's actually ranked very high among LFers in fielding. (hard to believe, I know).
This is mainly because of 2 reasons: 1) LF is where teams tend to stick their guys who are clueless with the glove, so his competition isn't exactly fierce, and 2) he throws out more runners than any LFer in MLB.
Anyway, I'm like the rest of you guys; I've been waiting all season long for his patented 2-week surge where he hits like Babe Ruth on steroids, but it hasn't come. And I'm growing damn impatient.

If that is true, then it proves that fielding stats don't prove anything. He has been brutal in LF since he got here, and last season (or this one) is no different.

I'm not sure why more people don't understand this.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

If he is too hurt to play, then he needs to take himself out of the lineup.

If he's too hurt to play than LOU needs to take his ass out of the lineup.

Seriously, if he is playing hurt he isn't helping anyone. Not himself or the team. He needs to be DL'ed, if only just for the mental break. He is absolutely clueless up there right now. Honestly, when Z is pitching Soriano should be batting 9th in the lineup because he has almost no chance of contributing anything positive in the lineup right now. Teams are going to keep feeding him breaking balls off the plate and he is going to continue swinging at them. Plus, when he does get a fastball, he can't catch up to it. He is lost right now and needs a break.

He's 33 (so he says). This is what happens to sluggers in their mid 30s in the post PED MLB. He's only going to get worse.

No, wrong, 100% wrong, again. Players don't go from being all star caliber players to being totally worthless in a blink of an eye. There's usually a trend, a gradual decline, not someone falling off the cliff performance-wise from one season to the next, that does not happen with any regularity. Is Soriano gonna get worse over the length of his contract? Yes, I don't think there's any question about it. Is he gonna fall off the map in terms of ability in one off-season? Not gonna happen.
He's hurt, he's been fucking hurt since about a month into the season. I don't know who's fault it is that he's been trotted out there almost everyday, but his perforamnce has been greatly affected by the fact that he is not healthy. It's really simple to explain actually.
