If DeRosa had played for any other team than the Cubs in the past 2 seasons, no one here would really give a shit and wouldn't consider it a "big move."
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It isn't Sabathia to the Brewers, but it's going to help them a lot. The fact the he is an ex-Cub and a fan favorite just makes it sting a little more.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

They have SUCKED up the middle and at 3rd this year in the absence of Glaus and without Greene doing anything. This is a big move for them.

Well he's not gonna be playing SS and he's really not that great at 3B, I'll bet he sees most of his PT in the OF.

EDIT: Or Schumaker goes back to the OF full time and DeRosa goes to 2B.

That's the point. He should still be a Cub.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That point is stupid. He was the prototypical, likeable, white Cubs utility guy . . . now he's not, so get the fuck over it.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I got the fuck over it long before everyone else did. I've stayed away from talking about it, but now he's with the Cards and it stings that much more. I'll be fine in the morning, but for now I'll allow myself to be angry.

The Cards need infield help badly. This acquisition is about improving the infield.

Yeah I hate this move and not because DeRosa was a Cub last year, I hated the Brewers trading for Durham last year too, they get a productive player to play a position where they have got zero production. Its a big upgrade.

Not to mention the Cubs have absolutely zero production at 2B/3B and DeRosa was the best one on the market. Maybe we can get Wigginton or something.

The average baseball fan is white, and for whatever reason, identifies more with white "hustle" players. It's well documented.

I keep thinking to myself "well, I hope at least the Cards paid out the ass for him."

Then I remember the Cards had the worst prospects in all of baseball.

With how bad Ludwick has sucked, DeRosa easily becomes their 2nd best hitter.

Cubs fans always seem to gravitate towards to likeable, white, utility guys and overvalue them. For some reason that seems to be part of the profile.

For the record, I like DeRosa too and I'd rather he didn't go to the Cardinals. I'm just not gonna lose any sleep over it or over exaggerate the effect he's gonna have on the Cardinals or the Cubs.

The Cards are also going after Matt Holliday or Jermaine Dye. If they get one of those guys to go along with DeRosa, it will put them over the top. DeRosa will help more than you think.
