DeRo traded to Cards
#1
I saw this in the game thread today on Bleed Cubbie Blue:

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->"Just caught the first part of the Indians radio broadcast — right before the first pitch…

DeRo is not in the starting lineup tonight. Tom Hamilton said that no one will say anything about why he is not in the lineup (he is not injured), and he saw DeRo in the clubhouse making lots of phone calls while the rest of the team was out on the field stretching.

There has been no official announcement, and there probably won’t be one until the end of the game, but Hamilton feels that DeRo has been notified of a trade. Hamilton made no guess about what other team(s) may be involved.

It would make sense that Hendry would make more of an effort to get DeRo now, since he might be the guy to help Gameboard feel more welcome in the clubhouse. Of course the Reds, Cards, Brewers, Braves, Marlins, Yankees, etc. probably feel the same way.

Stay tuned…"<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Update: Confirmed. See below.

That would be the perfect kick in the balls, wouldn't it?

I still don't think I've ever seen any of these mystery "he is not in the lineup!" rumors ever actually turn out to be a trade.

If DeRosa had played for any other team than the Cubs in the past 2 seasons, no one here would really give a shit and wouldn't consider it a "big move."

That's the point. He should still be a Cub.

It isn't Sabathia to the Brewers, but it's going to help them a lot. The fact the he is an ex-Cub and a fan favorite just makes it sting a little more.

That point is stupid. He was the prototypical, likeable, white Cubs utility guy . . . now he's not, so get the fuck over it.
