maybe i'm queer, but i kind of like miles and freel coming off the bench. is that gay? to me, these are role players with a modicum of success. if they both can match their career averages, i'd think the bench was fairly strong, especailly when you toss hollywood and baldy locks in the equation.
is it homish to think freel/miles can contribute?

It isn't a bad thing -- but it does accentuate the ridiculousness of the DeRosa trade.

No, no, no, no, no. Notice how with Freel, Fontenot is still the 2B, would not have been with DeRosa.

They do sort of look like members of the Village People if you think about it.

Miles is the 2b against lefties, and the backup to Theriot(who has only had like 1 day off). Freel now might become the primary backup to Aramis, our #3 2b, a backup at all outfield spots, and our main pinch runner.

No, it's realistic. It's what they've done their entire careers. Neither is going to hit for power, but that doesn't matter when we have 6 guys in the lineup everyday that will hit for a lot of it. People seem to forget that.

I don't really feel like illustrating how DeRosa and Fontenot could both get plenty of ABs on this team again...

Let me just say this, though -- we're a better team today than we were yesterday. How's that?

You don't have to HOPE for injuries to Bradley -- you have to plan for the inevitable.

I like it.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

Just because Hendry has to plan for it doesn't mean DeRosa is going to accept it, especially when he's looking at the last chance he's got to earn a good contract. Which is why Hendry dealt DeRosa while he had a nice value, picked up some good minor league pitchers, and signed guys like Miles and Gathright, who aren't everyday starters, but are plenty capable of filling in for a period of time.
