Dunn vs. Bradley (so far)
You don't think he's a hell of a ballplayer?
Or you don't think he's injury-prone?

I started this thread and now we have seven pages of discussion.
Excuse the shit out of me for trying to liven it up in here.
If everyone hates the Dunn discussions so much, feel free to start another thread, or ignore the Dunn thread. It isn't complicated.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
But it isn't 7 pages of discussion....it is 7 pages of the same bullshit we have had 10 other times in the past 6 months, in reality, it is probably about 100 pages of pointless discussion.
Sorry, I just think dealing in hypotheticals is a waste of time because things are the way they are, they aren't going to change.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I enjoy the conversation and I enjoy dealing in the "what-ifs."<b> It's relevant to me because there were several left-handed outfielders available in the offseason (Bradley, Dunn, Abreu, and Ibanez).</b> Why can't we talk about the offseason decisions Hendry made? Why was Dunn not even considered and Bradley was the top of the list? Why didn't Hendry pursue Ibanez or Abreu? Are these not relevant questions?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Thank you Butch, for nailing your response. We have EVERY right to question Hendry for making the moves he makes, especially when some of them are completely inexplicable.

At least signing Bradley made some vague sense, if you're a "cross-your-fingers-and-believe in miracles" type dreamer who thought maybe, <i>just</i> maybe, Bradley could stay healthy for more than half of the games. Cause when healthy, he's a hell of a ballplayer.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

dude, no one says it's wrong to question hendry. we all do it. WE'RE JUST SICK AND FUCKING TIRED OF DISCUSSING, DISECTING, AND ARGUING ABOUT ADAM FUCKING DUNN!

3 weeks in it looks pretty clear that we got a DH that's a better hitter from the right side to be the left handed bat and right fielder for a national league team. It also sucks that the deal was done for so long and for so much, considering that just a few weeks later the market seemed to bottom out. He has plenty of time to turn it around, but to this point anyone who wouldn't rather have Ibanez is crazy. I think they got basically the same deal, and in a year or two Ibanez is gonna still gonna be 4 or 5 years older and he's already old, but with Bradley's health it might be a wash.

That said Bradley could stay heathy the rest of the year and lead the NL in OPS and we'll all be thrilled.

Adam Dunn is a good hitter. Thoughts?

Ask Tom. He enjoys going over Dunn minutiae. Enjoys it very much.

Adam Dunn looks a lot like Scarey. Just another reason to like him.

Here's something that's kind of interesting. Dunn had as many homers and RBI 18 games into the season as Bradley has now.

Let's see how they stack up today:

Dunn -- .266/.402/.529
18 HR, 50 RBI

Bradley -- .241/.360/.386
5 HR, 16 RBI

Oh...and if you hate Adam Dunn discussions, feel free to ignore this post instead of having a fit and complaining about all of the Adam Dunn talk.

Oh...and I really despise Bradley now. I was willing to give him some leeway for a while, but I'm all the way into the hate camp now.

Let me just say that I'm with my buddy Tommy V. I love me some Adam Dunn. Can't talk about him enough.

Butch, why are you now officially hating Bradley when he appears to have righted the ship and is actually hitting decent?

He's been stuck on 5 homers forever -- he still isn't hitting for power. And I guarantee he'll get hurt again soon, right after he hits a few XBH and really seems to have truly figured it out. Then he'll be back to square one where all he can do is take a walk after he gets off the DL.

Adam Dunn also has about 100 more PA than Bradley. Now, that doesn't mean Bradley should have 13 more HR and 20 some more RBI, but comparing the two players is kind of dumb because a) they are 2 different players. Dunn should havebetter power numbers because he is the only decent player in that lineup and B ) if Dunn were a cub he would be hitting .220 right now. Easily.

Which has been part of the discussion from the get-go. Dunn is durable. Bradley is a fabergé egg.

What would be the point of comparing a player with himself?

I don't understand this. Would Pujols hit fewer XBH if he were surrounded by All-Stars? If Dunn is the only decent player in the lineup, he should see *fewer* good pitches to hit.
