I respect his baseball knowledge but he seems like a bit of a smug dickhead a times, and doesn't seem to give us that much respect usually. Just like Keith Law. That's at least what I've noticed.

I agree. It just annoys me...I don't want to sound like a woe is me Cubs fan, but it just feels like sports writers go out of their way to blast the Cubs no matter what. Such an easy target I guess.

There's one 'writer' that keeps it very pro-Cubs 24/7, though...
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

Spot on. Goldstein and Law know their shit, but both come off as incredibly smug.

2 Cubs minor leaguers suspended 50 games for drug violations. I'm not familiar with any of these characters.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Chicago Cubs catcher Erick Castillo and pitcher Amalio Reyes were suspended for positive drug tests. They are both on the roster of the Cubs' team in the Dominican Summer League.

Free agent pitcher Junior Astacio and outfielder Pedro Nunez were suspended for positive drug tests. Free agent pitcher Tony Feliz was banned because he failed to take a drug test.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Don't know any of them (that's a good thing). We probably need to start a 2011 thread, eh?

Either that or simply rename this one and remove the "2010" part altogether. That could become a beast of a thread though.

Big news on the Kyler Burke front!

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Also not a surprise is the news that Kyler Burke is being converted to a pitcher and will begin the season at extended spring training. Burke has a cannon arm, rated to be the organization’s best in the outfield, but has largely struggled at the plate in five seasons hitting just .244. His best by far was 2009 when he hit .303 for the Chiefs, drove in 89 runs and was named the Cubs’ minor-league player of the year. With his arm strength, that he was a pitcher before being drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2006 and will still only be 23 for the bulk of the season, moving Burke to the mound is almost a no-brainer.The Cubs have found some gems in doing this before, with Carlos Marmol being the most notable, so it is worth a shot.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Regardless of what Kid will inevitably say, trading Barrett was still the right move.

Interesting development. Maybe he will turn into a Wells-type back end guy. What took them so long?
