Thanks Beets. So are there two open teams, and if so, which two?

I'm leaving tomorrow, and I'm swamped right now. I got emails out to everyone who sent me one. I still need to know if a couple guys are still in or not. once we get to 10 teams, we can figure out who gets what team. YOu guys are welcome to work some shit out on your own, but I can't probably do anything with this until at least a week from Sunday.

No. If we do that this year, then when someone wants to leave or get into the league next year we face the same thing. We said it would be a keeper league. And I say this as someone whose team blew goats last year.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

Shrug. Just asking. Your team might have blown goats, but I'm betting you've got some guys you're plenty happy to keep. I'm hoping the same is true of my squad.

Once again, though, does anyone know which teams are the vacated ones? I've signed up to keep things going, but I'm disinclined to pay money to play in a league if my "keepers" are absolute dog shit compared to everyone else's.

I'm guessing superstuds is one. I'll try to figure out the other.

We are still waiting to see if clapp is back or not, and need a couple more guys to sign up.

ace, like i said before, if it's a keeper league and you come in after the thing already starts chances are you don't have the top keepers in the league but the beauty of a keeper league is in it's (hopeful) longevity and the fact that you can build a team. plus we only keep 3. plus it's not that much money. like i said before, i run a 12 team 8 player keeper league that's done very well going on 9 years. we went from 10 to 12 teams 5 years ago. the "expansion" owners knew they weren't going to come in and win right away, but they wanted to be in the league because it's fun. both teams started off as a mid-level team the first year. in the 4 years to follow one team has been in last or second to last every season and the other spent 1 more season building his team with trades and has been in the championship the last 3 years in a row, winning it once.

it's a keeper league, you weren't in on the ground floor and may not win it all in your first year, but please don't let that keep you out. again, with only 3 keepers you can easily make your team however you want it very soon, and it's not that much money. i really think that once we have it up and running and the rules and stuff are all ironed out it could be a really cool league that lasts a long time.
Life is a bitch, but she's totally doable.

I'm with all that. I don't expect to join a keeper and win it all right away - but I also don't expect to join and have the only pure dog-shit team in the league, and take 3+ years to get it respectable (which could easily happen if every other team has three of the "good" players in the league).

I gotta be honest, I'm also not crazy about being in a keeper league where there was already so much turnover in the first year, you know?

I'm not really saying anything either way - I just want to see what the open teams look like, and would have liked to know who they are before committing. But ultimately, I want to play because I want to be in a league with you fuckers, and if this is the way, this is the way.

If not, I'm in a keeper league that's pretty easy to keep track of. Basically, you can keep 3 guys. You have to use a draft pick to keep them. The draft pick is determined by what round they went in last year, then you subtract one year. You can keep a guy for a max of 3 years. It sounds complicated, but it's not. For instance:

2009, I draft Cutler in the 3rd round. If I want to keep him in 2010, I have to use a 2nd rounder. If i want to keep him in 2011, I have to use a first rounder. I can't keep him in 2012.

First rounders will always cost you a first rounder. You can't keep a guy unless you have a draft pick in that round. So if you want to keep 2 guys taken in the first round, you must have 2 first round picks.

Really, all you have to keep track of is the draft position for each guy.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Is this the model that we're using? Also, can we move the draft from Labor Day to another day?

Yes, and the draft date is arbitrary right now. I can change it to whatever we want.

Coldneck, what was your team name last year?

So is this still a money league, or are we going to just do it without the cash this year?

My team name was Royale With Cheese. And I just looked at my roster and I have no idea how I finished in the top 3 last year. Must have been the coaching.
