Yeah, together with Gaub and Stevens.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Hendry fucked the pooch on that one, cuz DeRosa was our ultra-utility guy, super loved, Mr. Cub and went on to... errr wait.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The DeRo deal, among others, is why I don't understand why some folks have a problem with Hendry being the guy to do the selling, even if he won't be the GM next year.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I completely agree, and honestly, beyond that, I wouldn't have any problem keeping Hendry on (despite all of his shortcomings and the fact that I hate the idea of rewarding him for the last 2 seasons) IF we hired a true baseball VP or similar executive to oversee the entire organization and get us to the next level where we should be AND if that meant we also retained Wilken.

First people want to give Hendry credit for Silva's idiot savant turnaround...like he could see this diamond in the rough...and I don't buy it.

Now we're supposed to give Hendry credit for trading DeRo for a case of tape because he somehow knew that two years later the guy would wind up on the DL?

Agreed. That's what Ace was referring to, not DeRo being hurt, and I think he's right. We got good return on that deal.

And he got decent return for a guy when he was at the peak of his worth. DeRo, was awesome for the Cubs, but he fell apart really quickly after being traded.

He went from an OPS of .857 with the Cubs, to .799 with Cleveland, to .696 with the Cardinals and .537 with the Giants.

So for one guy, who had just peaked in his career, we got 3 pitchers that will all pitch for the big league team and be decent. You can argue that Hendry isn't very good with Free Agency and locks players into contracts that are shitty for the club, but he's been pretty damn good with his trades.
I got nothin'.
