An Andrew Rundle sighting!

Cubs paid him, Cliff Anderson, and Chris Huseby a whole lot of extra money in that draft for little to show for it.

Hopefully Huseby achieves his now potential of being a big league set up pitcher.

I am truly perplexed by this one. Why the scorn for Huseby? Why is his now potential being a setup up pitcher? Simply because he isn't starting now? What other complaints do you have against the second youngest pitcher on the staff sporting a 70/10 K/BB ratio in only 52 innings? Teams are hitting .206 against him. So he isn't too old for the league, his standard stats are great, his peripheral stats are off the charts, yet you seem to be designating him as the next coming of Luis Vizcaino.

Shouldn't Huseby be an example of something the Cubs did RIGHT?

Actually those guys are from Wilken's first draft with the Cubs. And you know what? I'm ok with it. That's how you build a good minor league system. You go after high talent guys with a high probability of going to college and you throw a little bit of money at them. The Cubs did it more so in that draft because they didn't have any picks in the 2nd or 3rd round.

It's risky, but you have to take risks sometimes to develop a good farm system. Huseby is a good example of that. The Cubs have a very good middle infielder named Logan Watkins is another good example. There are going to be busts, but it's worthwhile.

I'm as perplexed as you are. What the heck are you arguing about?

I have no scorn. I said I hope he achieves his now potential - no longer as a starter - as a big league set up pitcher. Where in the hell do you get the scorn from? I think he has big league potential. As I said. Luis Vizcaino? I've even said in this very thread how much I like Huseby. You're arguing with no one.

Collectively, the Cubs have little to show for the money they spent on those three. I have nothing against Huseby, and you really had to stretch to get that from my second sentence.

Minor League Roundup - BT - 08-28-2009

You seem to be saying that Huseby's ceiling, if we are lucky, it a set up man, right after saying we have little to show for paying him big money. I don't think scorn is a big leap from there. If that's not what you meant, fine.

Minor League Roundup - Kid - 08-29-2009

Oh please let this be the start of another BT vs. Ace semantics fight.

Minor League Roundup - Auz - 08-29-2009

Martinez and Perconte combined for a no hitter for Daytona today

Minor League Roundup - Auz - 08-29-2009

70ks, 9BBs in 52 innings pitched for Huseby.

I think he will be in the Cubs pen in the near future.
