He is 24 years old which is quite old for A ball, but he does have 17 K to 1 BB ratio through 26.1 innings. i noticed he was drafted by Seattle. Did we get him as a throw-in in the Cedeno/Heilman trade?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
We actually signed him from an Indy league earlier this month

Minor League Roundup - Coach - 07-30-2009

Cashner is starting to live up to the 1st round hype. He works around 4 walks and only allows an unearned run in 5 IP.

Minor League Roundup - Quinn - 07-30-2009

Peoria was down 7-3 going into the 9th inning and scored 10 runs in the 9th. Second game in a row they scored in the 9th to take the lead and win on the road.

Minor League Roundup - Andy - 07-30-2009

Any chance we see either Cashner or Huseby come September? Or would the Cubs brass not want to put them on the 40 man quite yet?

I guess we could, but I bet they dont want to add them to the 40 man yet with all of the Rule 5 guys that we will have to make room for in the offseason.
Plus, we have plenty of AAA RP that can take up space in September

Cashner is a definitely possibility, but even though Huseby's been dominant, he's still at such a low level, isn't he? Also, I agree with Coach that AAA is loaded with good relievers - notably Gaub and Parker, whom we haven't seen yet.

Side question: why did Jay Jackson start for Daytona? No way he got demoted. Was it just a timing thing?

he got demoted. someone posted his twitter page up above and he wasn't that happy about it.

Minor League Roundup - Coach - 07-31-2009

Jackson was back to dominating at Daytona last night.
Maybe it was for disciplinary reasons or they could have him working on refining a pitch or something.
