I think "untouchable" was the exact wording by Hendry.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Hill would have gotten the Roberts deal done last year.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yup. But given the information we had at the time, it was not unreasonable to want to hold onto Hill.

Rich Hill To The O's? - veryzer - 01-30-2009

pie might have gotten it done as well. trade these guys when they have value. that's been my biggest complaint about hendry.

Rich Hill To The O's? - HTC - 01-31-2009

Seattle is interested. These guys do jack squat for me. Again, let one of the in-house guys battle it out to start instead of trading for one of these butt munches.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->If Seattle could tempt the Cubs with one of their best-paid pitchers – Miguel Batista ($9 million in 2009), Jarrod Washburn ($10.3 million) or Carlos Silva ($11) – in exchange for Hill, that would probably clear the way toward the club making Abreu, who made $16 million last year, a legitimate offer.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The only pitcher from Seattle that I am even remotely interested in is Bedard

Rich Hill To The O's? - Destined - 01-31-2009

We just got rid of Marquis, why would we get one of those 3 mofos?

WTF? If only they had Sexson still so they could sweeten the deal by throwing him in too.

I would take Bedard straight up and just hope for the best.

Wow, all of those names make my penis soft. Why would we take on Miguel Batistas contract after getting rid of Marquis? That doesn't make any fucking sense.

Fuck flood control BTW.

If they would give us Bedard for Hill I wouldn't be opposed. Isn't he a huge prick though?

I think he's more of a massive pussy, but he should have something left and at least has done well when healthy. Probably never gonna happen though, especially after they gave up so much for him to begin with.

There's no one on that list at those salaries that the Cubs would even think about.

Exactly. I haven't been that bothered by all the moves (or non-moves) Hendry has made this offseason, but if we get some 3rd-rate piece-of-crap overpaid pitcher for that 5th spot (these guys or anyone else that's been rumoured), I will be more than pissed. There's just absolutely no need - it should be Peavy, and have the most kick-arse rotation ever, or give one of our young guys the shot and save the money. Nothing in between!

YEAH! What Googly said!

Rich Hill To The O's? - Brock - 01-31-2009

For me, unless we somehow end up with Peavy, Marshall has earned his spot in the starting rotation. He's done everything he's been asked to do and has done it successfully, with ERAs under 4 the last 2 seasons. The whole "let them battle it out in Spring Training" idea is generally pretty retarded if you ask me. I think we know what we have in Marshall by now, and a limited # of innings in Spring Training shouldn't really change anything.

I agree, unless Marshall's stuff looks like shit in ST, and someone else is missing every bat.
