2025 Cubs
Is it wrong that I miss Hector Neris?

Time to check availability at the nearest rehab facility or at least get some needed rest

There’s a good reason that the Cubs released Hector in August last season.  He’s not a better option than some of the minor league options the Cubs had in 2024 or currently have in 2025 despite finally getting called up by the Angels

The new pope is a cubs fan - Clearly a sign of the apocalypse

I can't tell the difference between Pressley and Neris, to be honest.

Gutsy win last night. The Marlins are not a good team but that’s a game that Cubs lose in most seasons. Hopefully, this club is special this season.

Guess that Turner stays on roster for another week or two. Great, professional hit to drive in the winning run. Nico seems to be returning to form at the plate. Merryweather continues to be lost but Pressly delivered a clutch K that helped set up the heroics in the 9th.

I was going to complain about sending the cooked ginger with the tying run on 3rd and he proved me wrong.

Merryweather has been brutal. He used to be one of the few arms I trusted...

Hodge going to IL - which explains why Palencia was trotted out for what seems like the 17th day in a row but is only 3 of last 4 days.

High end relief will be likely be more expensive than prior years at trading deadline this season as it seems like a number of big market teams will be in need

It's crazy to me that David Robertson is still unemployed. Unless he's done with baseball for personal reasons, it seems like he still has plenty left in the tank based on his 2024 performance. But at this point he would need a lot of ramp-up time if someone signed him.

I’m pretty sure that Robertson is his own agent, and is holding out for a substantial contract (as he should). Otherwise, I think he’s received many offers to date.

Amaya out 4-6 weeks with oblique strain.

Considering we've lost our two best starting pitchers, it's kind of amazing that we're continuing to rack up wins. We need Shota back in a big way -- the offense can't keep carrying the team all season.

I loved watching Boyd pitch yesterday. It is crazy the record this team has when you think about the injuries to the staff's key guys, you wonder how long it can continue. Doesn't seem very sustainable but they have been such a fun team to watch.

Here's a 10 min youtube thing talking about this team's high use of low velocity 4 seam fastballs and how it relates to the count and how it's bucks everything every other team does--- and how it seems like it works for the starting 5 even if it doesn't work for the pen as much. I thought it was interesting. It's a month old so there's that...

Awesome. Thanks for sharing that. They've been talking about that approach a bit on the broadcasts recently, but it was cool to see it discussed in more depth.

Watching last night’s game felt like a precursor to the 2026 roster - the offense missing a big bat. Even Tucker appearance in last at bat in the 9th - akin to management grabbing the bat roster required at the trading deadline

The point enjoy the 2025 roster even with its issues (lack of health) as who knows what organization will have in next seasons
