rok, Ace (anyone else interested in the market) -- have you guys heard of this or read it?

The author (his name is escaping me at the moment) is the most arrogant piece of shit in the world, but he makes some interesting arguments. He also likes to shit all over MBAs, English profs, investors, the newly-wealthy...basically anyone who isn't him.

His main point is that you can't predict the market -- that it's impossible. You can't make predictions based on trends, politics, elections, whatever -- that the only thing you can really do is prepare for The Black Swan (the unforseeable "rare event").

Anyway, I just finished it a couple of weeks ago. It's hard for me to recommend because he really is a douchebag and he likes to remind the reader how smart he is about every 5 or 10 pages. But there is some value in it if you're interested in market theories.

It's Nassim Nicholas Taleb, and I've just started it. It was recommended to me by a few colleagues of mine a while back.

Anyway, yeah, he is a royal douchebag, and he's already trying to capitalize on his fame by starting up a hedge fund (I'm sure many celebrities will invest). For a guy who rails against market timing, he sure picked a shitty time to set up shop.
