Astros are 16 games over 500 without Altuve and now will be without Springer who heads to IL with hamstring strain. Springger has 43 RBIs and 17 HRs to date.

The new unified July trade deadline rules are a bit more opaque than one might think. Bottom line is that major league contracts cannot be dealt, but players can still be put through waivers and claimed post-July 31. Will be interesting to see how creative some teams get in August.

Honestly, I don't even pay attention to StL. The Brewers really irritate me for some reason.

I don't really worry about either of them. If our pitching can stabilize again and the FO is able to add a couple of solid bullpen arms, then the Brewers and Cards don't matter.
