MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Quote:Feels like the Yankees didn't give up TOO much, eh?
And 2 of the 3 prospects they gave up had pretty serious injuries too. How do they get away with this time and again?

I feel like Beane has been getting fleeced a lot lately.

I don't know. Gray was hurt last year himself. I think people might be severely overrating his value. Whereas Quintana has been the 7th-best pitcher from 201-2017 per fWAR (sandwiched between Arrieta and Lester), Gray has been 32nd.

Cubs gave up better prospects but also received a better pitcher than the Yankees. Yankees wanted Quintana but couldn't get the trade together before our front office did with its offer.

I would have been excited by the Cubs addition of Gray but Quintana is preferred.

Certainly don't think Gray is enough for them.

Crazy. Cleveland was beating Boston 9-8. With 2 out and Rafael Devers on first, Cody Allen struck out Mitch Moreland on a wild pitch. Moreland managed to make his way to second (Devers to 3rd). Christian Vazquez then blasted a 3-run HR to win the game for the Red Sox.

Crazy that Scherzer left the game with a 6 run lead, only for the Nats bullpen to blow it. Their pen is a disaster this year.

I just want to drink beer and play atari

Woah.  Had no idea they ended up blowing the game.

And they basically added 10 new arms before the deadline. Same shitty pen.

Along those lines, saw a video someone tweeted of Keuschel complaining about the lack of moves Houston made at the deadline.

It's kinda nice that the Astros are no longer in the NL Central.

Cubs would have battled them for last place in NL Central for 2013 and 2014 and subsequent picks in draft.

Yeah, but their pitching still doesn't look great in a short series, especially matching up against other teams' top arms. They're going to need to keep bludgeoning teams into the postseason if they're going to win anything.
