NL is outhitting the AL (no thanks to the Cubs) for the first time since 1976. It's a slim margin of .739 OPS vs. .734 but still impressive when you factor in the almost 1600 PA's by NL pitchers.

If they are looking for a human sacrifice, then the BFIB should be calling for Matheny's head. I don't like to overstate the importance of in-game management, but this past week has exposed him to be not so good at his job. One review call backfired on him last night and opened the floodgates to the Reds offense exploding on them, and anyone who watched the Cards/Cubs series over the weekend would have to admit that his mishandling of relievers and leaving in Leake too long may have cost them a couple of games as well. He has to be on the hot seat if this continues.
