I think in back to back years they have reached on a FA bat.  But looks like they want to take advantage of Felix's window and give it a shot.

Yeah, I agree. I just wonder if Cruz holds up at all for the last couple years of that contract.

I doubt he holds up for the first year of the contract.

Cruz produced for O's last year.  Mariners needed him last year and they whiffed.  They most likely over paid for one of the few impact bats in free agency this year. They most likely signed him for too many years - at least a year most likely 2 too long. 

 

Guess would be that O's offered him 3 and Mariners were forced to go 4 or start looking at trades to fill the holes in their lineup.

Torii Hunter signs a one year 10.5 million deal with the Twins. 

 

We allegedly been linked to him before this.

That's an odd deal. Good for him though for going back to where he started.


Also, there were reports earlier that the Dodgers and Phillies were in discussions toward a Hamels trade. I'll believe it when I see it.

Braves sign Jim Johnson and Torii Hunter is going back to Minnesota.

Mariners and Jays swap Happ for Saunders. This saves the Jays money, and opens a rotation spot, which I hope they don't plan to partially reallocate toward Lester.

Sounds like a 3-way is brewing between the Yanks-Tigers-AZ that would land the Yanks Gregorius, the Tigers get Shane Greene with a couple of prospects going go AZ.

Duquette is under contract with Baltimore for three more years, but the position offers him a promotion, so typically teams do not stand in the way


*In a series of Tweets recapped here by CSN Chicago, Ken Rosenthal reports that White Sox VP Ken Williams is also being considered by Toronto for the President role but that the White Sox are "balking" at giving him permission to interview. Rosenthal adds that Williams is considering resigning from the White Sox if necessary to seek the promotion with the Blue Jays.
