Spring Training is pretty awesome. I have a pretty good story from Spring Training 2005. My parents were living in Scottsdale so I headed out there for a week to play golf and go to Spring Training. About the 3rd day I was there we ate dinner at Maggiano's, which unbeknownst to me was hosting a party for the team. To make a long story short, I ran into Todd Wellemeyer, who I went to college with, and he introduced me to some of the guys (Glendon Rusch, John Leicester, Cory Patterson, Wood, D-Lee and some minor leaguers). The next day I found myself playing golf with Wellemeyer, Leicester, and some low level trainer whose name I can't remember. There's my Gabby story on Spring Training.

I'm thinking about planning a trip. Has anyone here made definite plans? It would be cool to meet up. I've been once before with my Dad.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.

My wife and I were going to go this spring, but now that she is due the end of April/beginning of May we are probably going to postpone that idea until next year.

I've been to Mesa, and to HoHokam and Fitch Park...but in October. So I'm planning to go to ST, but it looks like it'll have to be next go around.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

Coldneck, that's a pretty good one. Playing golf with members of the Cubs...not many of us have ever had that experience.
My parents also live in Scottsdale, near Camelback and 86th.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

TSA guidelines will only allow up to a 7" Sceptor.
Fat Bastard is an immensely obese, hardly able to walk (weighing a metric ton) gardener and henchman hailing from Scotland. His extreme size endows Fat Bastard with super-human strength as exhibited by his prowess in the Sumo ring from Goldmember. This makes him a formidable enemy for Austin Powers. Fat Bastard is noted for his foul temper, his frequent flatulence, his vulgar and revolting bad manners and his unusual eating habits, which include taste for Human infants (which he calls "the other other white meat") or anything that looks like a baby, e.g. small people. Fat Bastard has been a regular at Cub games since the early 80's when he tried several times (unsuccessfully) to eat the visiting San Diego Chicken.

And I'm still waiting for someone to tell me if they're going. I'm starting to hear crickets.
