Saw it over the weekend. Wasn't fantastic but was pretty good.
I'm pretty sure Eastwood is just playing himself in this movie. Angry old guy who is pissed at what the world has become.
It was worth checking out though.

It looked pretty awesome, I wanted to check it out.

I liked it, but almost only because of Clint. The rest of the actors aren't very memorable, and the plot is nothing new. I thought the ending was appropriate though. One of the better films of 2008, but then again I haven't been blown away by many films over the past 12 months outside of the comic book genre. 3.75/5 stars.

I really liked it. As mentioned above the entire cast with the exception of Eastwood was awful. I am guessing he is surrounding himself with bad actors to make him look good. Which Clint does not need to do.

Another great Eastwood flick.
I'm biased because I've been a big fan of all his stuff for a long time. BUT....he really proves himself that hes one of the best of all time. I'm afraid this may be his last movie. Thats a shame but at least he'll go out on a good note.
A herd of buffalo can move only as fast as the slowest buffalo. When the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Actually almost off those people never acted before. He had an open casting call in the town they filmed. Most of them never had acted before.

And Clint's son played a bit part in it too as the white trash kid Trey.

I saw this last night. Liked it--but I'm a huge Eastwood fan, so I've got a bit of a bias. Funny thing was my girlfriend crying at the end. She was inconsolable--just a softy at heart. I couldn't help but have a chuckle at that--her sons were embarassed.
Overall--this is a very honest Eastwood film. He doesn't approach caricature, in my opinion. Yes, we've seen this theme before, but he's so damn good that we don't care.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.

So, let me get this straight... Most of them had never acted before, right?

I liked it even though there was some terrible acting (not by Clint) and painting with broad brushes. I was surprised at how funny it was.
