<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Kevin Youkilis is reportedly finished for the WBC because of an ankle injury.
So Team USA will need a first baseman and a third baseman for the semis. Adam Dunn is the logical choice to play the position tonight. According to the Boston Herald, Youkilis is thought to have a mild sprain and some inflammation in the left Achilles' area. He will undergo an MRI. Mar. 18 - 5:52 pm et<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

And that's why they don't want Adam Dunn playing first base.

Now Blanco rips a 2-run double. He's crushing the ball in this tourney. I think I'm going to miss him more than anybody we've lost.

Agreed. Though maybe Hill will beat out Bako, and the saw accident magically imbued his hand with hitting power.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Hendry said Wednesday night that he would support the first baseman if he decides to play in the World Baseball Classic, but he had not heard from anyone on Team USA or with Major League Baseball as to whether Lee was needed.

Team USA has advanced to the semifinals of the Classic, and it will play either Saturday or Sunday in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium. The U.S. team's opponent would be determined after the second round of play is completed.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->"I'm not going," Lee said Thursday. "I'm not even playing here."

Lee has not been in a game since Monday because of a sore right quad. He was scratched from the Cubs' lineup on Tuesday and is expected back on Friday.

He said he has not talked to anyone from Team USA, including current teammate Lilly and former teammate DeRosa, but did say that the team's trainer had contacted Cubs athletic trainer Mark O'Neal to see if Lee was available. Team USA is short-handed because Boston first baseman Kevin Youkilis has a sprained ankle. Adam Dunn played first base on Wednesday night against Venezuela.

Lee's leg injury isn't serious.

"If it was the season, I'd be playing," he said.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
