Cardinals
That's a tough road trip. Hopefully they stay right where they are. I enjoy the silence from the Cards/Sox fans.

The Cards are cornering the market for mediocre starting pitchers. Bold strategy. Let's see if it pays off.

Aging, potentially average starters signed on back-to-back days to one year deals with team options - Clearly there’s a market inefficiency that the Cardinals have identified. They likely have improved their starting rotation roster. Yup, guess when you start out with bloody stool and situation changes to simply diarrhea, that’s a significant improvement!

This would be something I suppose.

That's a solid addition.

Cards reunite with Matt Carpenter. Matt sucked for the Padres and last couple of years with Cards but found some power and solid contact with Yanks a couple seasons back

Guessing that Matt will find that magic elixir which older players seem to find in the waters of St Louis, hit 20 HRs in a few months and leave the club for personal reason prior to end of season

That was a very specific prediction.

More fun to predict than stating he won’t be on team past July despite Padres paying him all but minimum

My prediction is that he'll be thoroughly mediocre.

Mediocre would be significantly better than his production with Padres

I was enjoying seeing less of his ugly mug. However, I have a feeling he's going to continue underperforming so I'm glad to see this.

Goldschmidt broke out of his 0-32 slump and is .197 batting average, three home runs and a .559 OPS just a tad bit lower than his that career .900 mark. Oh and his 36 yrs old.

Cardinals best offensive threat this season, Willco, just broke his arm and Arenado is having another less than AllStar start with his 703 OPS this season.

Cardinals are in last place in NL Central

Hope everyone is having a good day

Still can't believe that PECOTA and all of the other analytics tools had the Cardinals winning the division. Anyone paying attention even in the slightest knew that they'd be medicore, at best. All of their best offensive players are well into their 30s and their only good addition was Gray. Why did they all have them bouncing back to the tune of 15-20 additional wins from last year?

Solid article on Cardinals and lack of player development being primary cause for missing playoffs again. Would combine their lack of development with free agent signings of average starters and somehow expecting more. Article notes the cut in minor league staff.
