i'm a little wiped out from the day and watching this movie again, i felt i had to before sending it back to netflix, but i figured i'd put this out there. maybe you guys already knew this but it made the movie, not more clear, but even more interesting to me. i took a lot more in from the second viewing but i wanted to "get it" more so i googled for a few minutes. i didn't know what "synecdoche" was. i thought it was just a play on words with the town in new york where it's kind of set. it actually sort of is, by definition, but that just adds more layers to this thing. if you didn't know about this, and saw the movie, maybe check it out. i'll probably do a little more probing some other time, i only looked at a few things for a few minutes. it's a movie i really want to understand, but i'm not sure that's what you're actually supposed to do. like rok or butch said, i think it is a little pretentious, but what's he going to do? make a dumbed down movie so i can understand it? if anything, it's good when a movie makes you think like this afterwards

Well, the title is a portmanteau of the word synectics and the city you mentioned. Synectics is basically the use of free association and analogy to link completely unrelated concepts, but logically to solve a problem. So in essence something that can't be something else becomes that thing and there becomes a distinct relationship between two. With that in mind, the scope of the movie (to me) tends to mean a little more.
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

another thing i got from understanding the title word better was a different approach to the movie itself. someone tell me if i'm way off, but you're supposed to watch it without trying to decode it, the characters are interchangeable, each one can be the other and feel the emotions that come with it. i'm really thinking about giving it a 3rd go round before sending it back tomorrow. next up, let the right one in and i'm getting antsy to see it otherwise i'd keep this one a while longer.
