Cubs vs Twins 06/13/09
#31
This is really getting to be too much. Everyone other than the starting pitchers is pretty much equally to blame. That includes Lou and Hendry.

Fucking pathetic. Let's just throw in the white towel, why don't we.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

Exactly. I'd take the risk at a GIDP before I would give Fukudome a chance there.

It's partly on Lou, but there's no way they were going to score regardless.

yeah, I'm sure they wouldn't have.

Still dumb.

It's incredible how badly this team misses Aramis right now. Lee's the only one getting on base, and he's doing it a lot, but nobody can drive him in. Still, when you're not scoring at all, one player isn't going to make the difference.

Soto has power this year? I guess I haven't noticed.

But I think it was one of the situations where it didn't matter either way. We were just screwed, plain and simple.

I think Reed would've been a better choice than Fukudome, but Reed's a righty, and heaven forbid we can't have a righty vs. a righty

I don't agree with Lou's move in that situation either, but Soto has 11 double plays in 153 at bats, and only has 7 extra base hits(2 of those were homers in the last week though). I fully expected him to ground into a double, or triple play there. I'm sure this never even entered Lou's mind though, I'm just sayin.

I decided to check that out...

Lee has 53 hits/walks since May 1st. Take out the home runs(6), and that's 47 times he's on base for somebody else to drive him in.

In that span, he's scored 16 runs, so again we'll subtract 6 from his total, making it 10 runs.

So out of 47 times he's reached base, only 10 times has he's scored. That's 21.2% of the time. Pathetic considering he's batting 3-5 in the order.

Besides Aramis being out, one of the main reasons for that is Soto not hitting any where near as well as he did last year.

Oh absolutely. It's not just Aramis, the entire lineup was raking.

Edit: And I figured that out... last year he scored 31.5% of the time he reached via hit/walk-the homers.

Completely agree.

Johnson is only 0-1 lifetime against Nathan, so it's not like there's prior failures or anything.

EDIT: Johnson has an AVG vs. RHP of .242, but has all of his homers and more RBIs against righties, than lefties.

Yeah, honestly if Reed was up, I wouldn't have minded so much. Reed should be playing every day right now. Fuk needs some time off. Soriano does too.
